4 Tips For A Successful Grocery Shopping Trip
1. Don’t go grocery shopping when you’re hungry:
If you go to the grocery store while you are hungry, you will want to buy everything! Those Oreo cookies that you have been avoiding for a few weeks now may accidentally slip into your cart. Your mind starts to develop cravings for things you may have even lost cravings for! Because they are right in front of you when you are most vulnerable, it will be much harder to resist buying. Going shopping when you are hungry will leave you with an empty wallet and a cart filled with things that you may never even eat!
2. Plan Ahead
Planning your grocery list ahead of time will help you stick to the plan and not stray away towards tempting foods. You will save time and money when you plan ahead of time. Visually imagine walking through the grocery store, grab a sticky note and make a list of what you will need in each section.
3. Stick To The Perimeter
When grocery shopping, stick to the perimeter of the grocery store. Most of the aisles have processed food and if you don’t shop in those aisles, you won’t be tempted to buy those types of foods.
4. Read Your Labels
When you grab something off from the shelf and check out the ingredients, the very first ingredient listed is the most prevalent. This means, the majority of that food is made of the first ingredient on the list. The front of the box may attract you and trick you into thinking it is healthy, but when you check out the food label it’s a whole new ball game. Watch out for those sneaky added sugars and stick to foods with real ingredients.
